It’s funny, YACHT's fixation on "paradise engineering" seems so purely conceptual until you see them live. I don’t quite understand how their live show is so insanely infectiously high-energy and fun, but they’ve clearly figured something out.

When I saw them last summer I was about ready to drop everything and follow them out to a commune in the desert, and last night at the Rickshaw Stop had me feeling pretty similarly. Even with some totally smashed girl spilling beer on me, falling on me, knocking me in the head with her shoe, and fondling my hair from atop the shaky piano behind me (plus I had to pull her off the stage when she clamored over everyone to…I don’t know, touch the band?), I had the biggest grin on my face that whole show long.
